solaris is the first hybrid (the archive x press play) afrojester that merges functional art with technology.
augmented reality (ar) is a technology that overlays digital information, LIKE images, sounds, or text, onto the real world in real-time, blending virtual elements with the physical environment.
solaris ('of the sun') is an eco-futuristic afrojester inspired by the solarpunk movement, a hopeful eco-futurist art and literary movement that imagines a sustainable future where humanity has solved climate change, pollution and social inequality. it merges nature-inspired, green architecture with technology, advocating for community-based living and diy culture. it envisions a future where art, technology and nature coexist in harmony
Her design extends across mediums, appearing as a sculptural side table and plant stand in The Archive and as a 2D animated figure in Press Play.
using image tracking, 2d projections and real-world objects, solaris' face is detected and a live 2d animated visual of her is projected on a table's surface.
