| SIDE TABLE + PLANT STAND

SOLARIS - 1 of 1 sculptural side table + plant stand + an immersive augmented reality (ar) feature (3-in-1).

🌱 SOLARIS IS an eco-futuristic afrojester inspired by the solarpunk movement, a hopeful vision of a future where art, nature and technology coexist in harmony.

🌱 SHE IS THE FIRST hybrid AFROJESTER FROM the sub-world, 'the archive x press play', that merges functional art with technology.

🌱 solaris was designed using 3/4-inch wood, 16-inch metal hairpin legs, and a metal pipe secured between two metal flanges, which holds the plant stand firmly in place.

🌱 the plant stand assembly acts as the table's fourth leg, adding balance and stability, it's single-leg support intentionally creates a floating illusion.

🌱 unlike mugen, who was sealed with epoxy resin, solaris was finished with acrylic gloss varnish and a layer of polycrylic.

this finish reduces intense glare, allowing the camera to detect her features and project a live animated visual of her onto the table's surface.

"the sun is also a star"

the archival rebirth is the process of using archived builds in the design of new builds, giving the spirits of the archived afrojester a second chance at life in a new form.

"the sun is also a star" is the archival rebirth of mugen (see below) into solaris (see above).

mugen is an afrojester inspired by the infinite nature of the universe, the stars and the limitless possibilities of life. he was the first afrojester to inhabit the archive.

he was archived for 2 months due to a creation defect, and has now been used in the design of solaris.

⭐️ 'mugen' is an afrojester INSPIRED BY THE INFINITE NATURE OF THE UNIVERSE, the stars aND THE limitless possibilities of life.

⭐️ MAKING MUGEN WAs a 14-day build and A 6-STEP

PROCESS INVOLVING sketching the design, WOOD CUTTING IN A UNIQUE SHAPE, SURFACE SANDING, wood PAINTING, EPOXY RESIN LAYERING, AND installation of LEGS.

⭐️ mugen was designed from 3/4-inch wood and 16-inch metal hairpin legs, and sealed with epoxy resin.
