THE SMILE KNOWS
"The Smile Knows"
"The smile is my mask and my method.
It provokes, mocks, and entertains.
It holds joy and critique in the same breath.
Bright, exaggerated, and playful on the surface, the smile carries what is often underestimated: awareness.
It notices joy and chaos, performance and pretense, what’s celebrated loudly and what’s hidden quietly.
I often feel both inside and outside the world, like a wanderer tasked with capturing life.
Detached enough to see clearly, yet attached enough to understand.
My colors, shapes, patterns, and surreal characters perform joy, beauty, exaggeration, chaos, spontaneity, and imagination: the jester’s performance.
Beneath the playfulness lives observation, emotional truth, identity, existential questioning, psychological insight, and cultural storytelling: the jester’s wisdom.
Through this lens, I capture beauty and chaos, joy and fear, love and ego, innocence and insecurity, contradiction and hypocrisy, masks and performance, and the dance between reality and illusion.
Humans are paradoxical: dual, beautiful, and absurd.
From that understanding, the Afrojesters are born."
